MPLX LP is a U.S.-based company focused on owning and operating essential midstream energy infrastructure and logistics assets. The Gathering and Processing segment is responsible for the collection, treatment, and transmission of natural gas, as well as the collection, transportation, fractionation, exchange, storage, and marketing of natural gas liquids. It also handles the sale of residual gas and condensate. The Logistics and Storage segment manages the collection, storage, transport, and distribution of crude oil, refined products, and other hydrocarbon-based products. This segment further encompasses inland marine activities, transporting light products, heavy oils, crude oil, renewable fuels, chemicals, and feedstocks throughout the Mid-Continent and Gulf Coast regions. For these marine operations, it utilizes its own and third-party chartered boats and barges, alongside a marine repair facility located on the Ohio River. Additionally, it oversees fuel distribution, refining logistics, terminals, rail facilities, and storage caverns. The company's comprehensive terminal facilities facilitate the receipt, storage, blending, additization, handling, and redelivery of refined petroleum products via pipeline, rail, marine, and road transport. MPLX GP LLC serves as the general partner for MPLX LP, which was established in 2012, is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, and functions as a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation.
